Criminal record clearance through fingerprinting is required for any international child adoption
and now in almost every domestic child adoption. This U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) site on Fingerprinting
for Domestic and International Adoptions provides helpful information. As regards international adoption, immigration regulations require that prospective adoptive parents and all additional
adult (18 years of age or older) members of the prospective adoptive parents' household provide fingerprints to USCIS for completion of FBI background checks.
